Alabama has gained a reasonable amount of attention for their French hybrid wines, most notibly the muscadine grape native to the area. Recent research shows that muscadine grapes actually contain five times the antioxidents of other grapes, and they produce a sweet wine that comes highly recommended. Since 2002, when agricultural reforms raised some of the previous restrictions on Alabama’s wineries, the states wine industry has done relatively well. Despite the many dry counties in the state, there are numerous wine trails and tours through the vineyards of different areas, making it a surprisingly great state for wine drinkers to visit.
